DANSEUR ETOILE OF THE PARIS NATIONAL OPERA BALLET

Wilfried Romoli discovered dancing at the age of nine and entered the Paris Opera School one year later.

He was hired by the Ballet Company (1979) when he was sixteen as Quadrille - Coryphée » in 1982 and «Sujet » in 1983. Promoted « Premier Danseur » in 1989, he was given a standing ovation.

Privileged interpreter of Rudolf Noureev who gave him many roles in his ballets: Raymonda, Roméo et Juliette, La Belle au bois dormant, Don Quichotte and offered him the Solor role in his last creation, La Bayadère

His curiosity, his energy and his taste for novelty pushed him very early towards Contemporary Dance.

His dancing career was deeply influenced by some of the greatest choreographers he met. John Neumeier, Roland Petit, Jerome Robbins, Maurice Béjart, Kenneth Mac Millan, Maguy Marin, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Angelin Preljocaj, Pina Bausch, Jiri Killian ... did regularly call him in.
Due to his performance in Maurice Béjart’s Bhakti III with Marie-Claude Pietragalla, he received the First Prize of the Paris International Dance Competition in 1984.

He retired in May 2008 and came back as guest for the Opera Ballet of Paris . He did is last performance in 2011 in Theatre de la Ville in Paris in a solo of Angelin Preljocaj, Le Funambule, dancing and reciting the text of the french poet Jean Genet .

He started an educational career in September 2008 at Paris Opera Dance School. He is now teaching the last level and the Pas de deux .

He participate to different stages: in Paris, Burgos, New York, Helsinki

Guest teacher for Alvin Ailey company touring in Paris.
He is also Master of Ballet in the school for Piege de Lumiére of John Taras - A corps Essence of Florent Melac-Symphony in three movements of Niels Christie - Aunis of Jaques Garnier- Vertiginous thrill of Exactitude of William Forsythe - Raymonda of Rudolf Noureev - Un Ballo of Jiri Killian –

He staged Aunis of Jaques Garnier for the school for the Company of the Paris Opera Ballet, Ballet du Rhin, Wienner Staatsballet –

In 2002 he was named « Knights of Arts and Letters »and in 2005 « Knights of the order of National Merit ». He retired in May 2008 and was named « Commandeur of Arts and Letters ».
He also played in movies; For Pierre Jolivet: Filles Uniques, Zim and CO, La très très grande Entreprise. Les Hommes du Feu.
